Hooked Tunic

Hooked on crochet – a glimpse into Joanne’s latest crocheted tunic!

I love to have a flick through magazines for inspiration and ideas and then often find a pattern that I think looks really nice. When I then look up the yarn to make the item I find it’s expensive and with having a slight addiction to crochet sometimes my money doesn’t stretch that far. With this Chunky Tunic pattern in Simply Crochet magazine it was also that I didn’t want to use a super chunky yarn as I thought it might be too warm to wear. After talking with Karen about wool I decided to use James c. Brett Marble Chunky ordering 3 balls and then set to alter the patten size due to using a Chunky and not Super Chunky and a smaller hook size for the yarn.

I settled on using a 8mm hook and started it 3 times until I reached the right size to fit me. The yarn is lovely to use and gives a lovely mix of colour. The pattern is quick to work up and on reaching the desired length it used one ball for the front and one for the back as both front and back are identical. When it came to the edge I used a 10mm hook I also did this twice as I wasn’t happy with the finished look the first time. Now I’m happy with my finished tunic and look forward to wearing it many times as I do with many other items I’ve made that I’m sure some of you that come to the studio often see me wearing.

Love Jo x
