Explore the world of 3D wet felt making in this four week course. Create a felt bowl / phone / glasses case in the first session and a more challenging piece(s) over the following weeks. The technique is very adaptable, so possibilities include bags, tea cosies, journal covers, cushions, simple boot style slippers and sculptural pods.

Wet-felting involves the creation of a fabric using the combination of wool fibres, soap, water and friction – AKA elbow grease!! It is a magical craft and the possibilities are endless.

We will cover the skills needed to create hollow, seamless forms:

  • Laying out fine wool & silk fibres around a template, either ready cut or to your own design
  • Using the wet felting technique – felting fibres with water, soap and friction
  • Fulling fibres to shrink them and form two or three projects such as vessels, covers, cosies, bags, boot-style slippers…
  • Adding surface decoration with beads and stitch (optional)
