Weaving with Nature

Your tutor will lead you step-by-step through how to create a weaving loom/frame using wooden sticks. You will then weave in creative ways using a variety of natural materials such as wool, fleece, cotton, linen, raffia, nettle and grasses to create interesting woven shapes. Finally you will complete your woven piece by decorating with feathers, shells, seeds etc.

For those aged 7 and older no prior knowledge of weaving is required at all. This workshop would also make a great refresher or improver workshop for those who want to revisit weaving techniques and get creative with natural materials.

All equipment and materials are provided for use during the workshop. If you have any relevant weaving equipment and or natural materials, you are welcome to bring them to the workshop but there is no need.

You will take home your own wall-hanging or mobile, depending on the size of your project, you may need to complete at home. This workshop aims to give you the skills and confidence needed to set up and weave using a range of natural materials on a basic frame loom.
