Tea Light Houses

This is a 3 hour workshop to make one house to a design and shape of your choice. Using the slab-building technique, you will learn to roll out sheets of white stoneware clay. I will provide a variety of templates and guide you with step-by-step instructions and demonstrations. You'll cut out the sides of your house, then personalise it by cutting out windows, doors, or decorative shapes like stars and hearts. You can use foliage and/or stamps and textured rollers to add texture to decorate and personalise your house.

Once your house is constructed, we will cut out the back to allow for a tealight or lights. Your finished house can be left with a natural matte finish or glazed in a beautiful glossy white. You can also choose an option of adding oxides to highlight the texture.

Perfect for beginners or those expanding their pottery skills, this class offers a welcoming environment to explore clay. It's primarily for adults, but we warmly welcome anyone aged 10 and above. We just ask that younger participants are able to maintain concentration and engagement throughout the three-hour session.

All materials and equipment are provided so no need to bring anything but yourself and your glasses if you need them for close up work.

While we won't get too messy, we recommend not wearing your best white top. Clay should wash out, but feel free to bring an apron if you wish to protect your clothing. Don't worry if you forget we will have spare aprons if needed.

Your creations cannot be taken home on the day. Your pottery will need to be dried, fired and glazed to your choice of matte or gloss finish. They will be ready to collect at your convenience from tour studio 3-4 weeks later, don't worry we will be in touch as soon as they are ready as we know you will be itching to get them home to enjoy.
