Rag Rug Workshop

Make your own rag rugging project with a variety of recycled materials and learn how to use different fabrics to create shaggy and loopy effects, using a range of techniques and tools. During the workshop we will make a range of samples for you to use for future reference, then design and create your own small rag rug or cushion cover or other project, choosing your own colour scheme and pattern or image, and then how to finish off your work. Depending on the design you choose for your project, it may take many hours to complete, so you may also need to provide some of your own fabric to complete and finish it at home.

For those aged 8 and older no prior knowledge of rag rugging required at all but this workshop would also make a great refresher or improver workshop for those who want to revisit rag rugging techniques.

All materials will be supplied, but if you have pieces of fabric or other re-used or recycled materials, please bring them. We suggest wearing clothes that you don't mind getting lots of threads on as some of the materials we will be using may fray.

There will be a lunch break where tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided. However if you would like anything more substantial you will have time to wander into town or please feel free to bring along your own food - we do have a fridge for storage and a microwave too.

Depending on the design you choose for your project, it may take many hours to complete, so you may also need to provide some of your own fabric to complete and finish it at home.
