Quilted Storage Pods

We will start with understanding the pattern, cutting out and layering up your pod with cotton wadding. We will also cover how to use a walking foot to quilt the layers together and sewing darts to give the pod structure. Then we will look at the construction of the pod which includes sewing curves and basic bag construction techniques, such as turning through and top stitching.

This workshop is an ideal opportunity for those who already know their way around a machine to make basic projects to get to grips with using a walking foot and introduce them to quilting. You should be aged 14 and over (under 18's must be accompanied by a participating adult) and know how to thread a machine, sew in a straight-isa line and preferably had a go at curves even if you haven't cracked them yet.

Please bring 2 fat quarters of fabric, one for the outer of the pod and one for the lining. If you want to use any other fabric you will need two pieces approx. 20” square (preferably 100% cotton or furnishing fabric). It is nice if they have some contrast as one is for the outer of the pod and the other will be used for the lining.

A piece of cotton batting and the pattern will be provided for you. We also have a range of thread colours but if you want something specific please bring that along too.
