Pottery Highland Cow

To create this adorable Highland cow we willll start by using a pinch pot technique to form the basic body shape from stoneware clay. Then, we'll add a head with horns (large or small, your choice!) and a cute nose. We'll use a clay extruder to create shaggy hair, which we can then attach to our cow.
To achieve a rustic, organic look, we'll leave the cow's body primarily in its natural clay colour. However, you can optionally add a splash of colour by choosing a glaze for the horns to make them pop.

This workshop is perfect for beginners and experienced artists alike.

It's primarily for adults, but we warmly welcome anyone aged 12 and over when accompanied by a participating adult. We just ask that younger participants are able to maintain concentration and engagement throughout the three-hour session and are happy to be in an adult class.

All materials and equipment are provided. While we won't get too messy, we recommend not wearing your best white top. Clay should wash out, but feel free to bring an apron if you prefer.

Your creations cannot be taken home on the day. Your highland cow that will be approximately 10cm long, will need to be dried, fired and the horns glazed to your choice of colour. They will be ready to collect at your convenience from the studio between 3 and weeks after your workshop. We will be able to give you a better idea of when they will be available to collect on the day of your workshop.
