Log Cabin Patchwork Cushion

Firstly we will decide on your design will it be log cabin frames or the more traditional log cabin design. We will learn how to cut your fabric, piece your fabric together, the best way to pin, how to sew using a 1/4" foot all while making a beautiful cushion for you to take home. This generally involves basic straight sewing although accuracy is key in all patchwork. All processes will be explained step-by-step so that you don’t end up in a muddle.

For those who can already use a sewing machine aged 8 years and over who would like to get started with patchwork or refresh their memory or just get away from the housework at home and have someone else make you a cup of tea. You only need to be able to thread up and sew in a straight-ish line you will learn everything else on the workshop.

You will need a jelly roll or similar product – preferably in 100% cotton and with straight edges rather than pinking sheered ones. You need at least 2 or 3 different fabrics in you jelly roll but the more the merrier - choosing what to use and where is half the fun!

Also you will need around half a meter of fabric to make the back of your cushion in a colour that goes with your jelly roll fabric.

We will supply all the other bits and pieces you need and you will be able to use our equipment during the session too!
