Introduction

Have you ever wanted to give acrylics a go but weren’t sure where to start? If so, this course could be just what you are looking for. Over 5 weeks you’ll learn the basics and get to try your hand at painting a still life, animal and a landscape.

Learn how to set up your equipment, how to create a composition, how to mix and layer colours, and use palette knives. This course is a great way to get you started!

Session schedule

The course will teach you some basic techniques and get you started with acrylics:

Session One
Setting up a wet pallette, learning colour theory and how to mix colours. Learning about the importance of using a grounded canvas and looking at composition and under painting to start a still life painting.

Session Two
Continuing to work on our still life paintings and learning the importance of values.

Session Three
Starting a painting of an animal, learning to use pallet knives and adding additional mediums to create an impasto effect.

Session Four
Introducing glazing and learning about aerial perspective to start a landscape painting.

Session Five
Finishing our landscapes, putting all the skills we have learnt throughout the course together.
