Crochet for Kids

Session One: Getting to grips and double the fun
Learning how to hold your hook and how to create a chain. We will be learning how to double crochet and understanding turning chains. We will make a start on a project and continue next week.

Session Two: It's getting bigger all the time...
Lets make a project I will help you to design a jar cover, phone case or small toy.

Session Three: Simple Flower
We will put together what we have learnt so far to make a few flowers.

Session Four: Trebles
Learning how to make trebles a little trickier than doubles but sooo much bigger. We will then make a start on learning how to follow a pattern and set of rules to make these traditional squares that will allow you to create bigger items yourself such as cushion covers, blankets and even cardigans!

Session Five: More flowers and finishing off
We will learn about clusters and make a flower from thick yarn (called chunky). This session will also allow time to finish off things from previous sessions and ask any questions from previous sessions. We will also learn about different sizes of trebles from half to quadruple!

Children aged 8 -16 years old with no prior experience needed.

Just bring yourself as you will receive your beginners crochet kit. 
The kit will include a range of 22 different sized crochet hooks, a knitters needle, small general purpose scissors and 3 x 100g balls of yarn (Stylecraft Special 100% acrylic DK).

All specialist wool and accessories for the mini projects will be provided in the sessions. If you would like to attach your flowers to something you already own like a bag or hat you can bring it along (no need to bring to first session though).

All the skills you learn, all the work you produce during the workshops (including your gecko and flowers), your portfolio (instructions/patterns) and your beginners crochet kit.
