All over the world since ancient times people have been making useful and beautiful coiled baskets, mats, bags and other items. The craft of coiled basketry utilises a variety of materials including straw, grasses, yarn, rushes, fabric and pine needles.

Attended the coiled basket workshop with Dee and four of us learning. We learnt about the different types of coiled baskets and then I had a go at a fabric covered small bowl/ basket. I had to choose the fabric and and core which took me ages to decide on, but eventually I got going and finished the day feeling very happy with my first attempt. Thank you Dee, you were very helpful and patient.
