In this workshop you will be guided through every step of the making process. You can choose to make a single majestic, large toadstool or a cluster of up to three adorable smaller ones, finished with a glossy cap in a vibrant shade of red or a colour of your choice.
Working with white stoneware clay, we will use slabs and a variety of hand-building techniques to craft our toadstools. You will create a realistically detailed stem featuring a gilled underside beneath the cap. The process involves making the top and a hollow stem separately, adding the intricate gill details, and then joining all the components together.
For the more adventurous and creative participants, feel free to let your imagination run wild! You can personalise your toadstool by adding a ladybug, a curious caterpillar, or any other critter that tickles your fancy.
While you will choose a coloured glaze for the caps, the stems will be treated with an oxide to highlight the details while remaining the natural colour of the clay. This technique is designed to imitate the authentic texture and appearance of a real toadstool.
Join us for a fun workshop to make these stoneware (weatherproof) toadstools to add a touch of magic to your garden border.
