Bear Hug

My Bear Hug Pot is an adorable bear with outstretched arms, ready to hold your pens, brushes, jewellery, or even a small plant. During this 2 hour workshop we'll guide you step-by-step, starting with a basic pinch pot and building up with coils to create the bear's form. We'll then add cuddly arms, ears, and a sweet face.

Once your bear is complete, you'll take it home to dry and transform it with your own personal touch. Unleash your inner artist with acrylic paints – whether you envision a cuddly polar bear, a majestic grizzly, or a playful panda, the choice is yours! You can use paints you already have, or we’ll have some sets of paint will be available to purchase and take home on the day. (Paints are not included in the price of the class.)

Please be advised that creating a pinch pot/thumb pot as the base for the bear will be easier with shorter fingernails.

This is a perfect beginner's class, suitable for adults and children aged 7 and up. We’ll demonstrate each stage clearly and provide hands-on help and advice throughout the workshop, ensuring everyone feels confident and creative.

We just ask that younger participants are able to maintain concentration and engagement throughout the 2-hour session.

Depending on the age and ability of your child, parents who do not wish to participate are welcome to stay to support their child(ren) if they wish. If you wish to take part and make your own bear hug you need to book a place for yourself. There will likely not be enough space for non-participating adults in the room due to numbers but we can make you a cuppa and you can sit downstairs while your little ones get creative with us.

All materials and equipment are provided. While we won't get too messy, we recommend not wearing your best white top. Clay should wash out, but feel free to bring an apron if you prefer.

If you want to bring something to take him safely home in a small box is a good idea but we will have some bags available too so don't worry if you don't have one to bring along.

Good news! Since we're working with air-dry clay, you get to take your adorable bear pots home with you immediately to dry and decorate. They'll generally be ready to paint within 2-3 days to a week, with the exact drying time depending on your pot's thickness and room temperature.
