A five session course for anybody aged 8+ to learn the basics of crochet – children are welcome to attend by themselves, though we encourage parents to join in too (as paying participants) so that the whole family can learn this cool craft together!
Who Is This Course For?
The Young Crochet Course is for young people and families with no knowledge of how to crochet. Suitable for ages 8+.
Please note that there will only be 6 learners on this course to ensure you get the attention you deserve!
Session One – Chains, Doubles and a Simple Case
Learn the difference between a foundation chain and a turning chain, get to grips with doubles, and of course learn how to hold a hook aswell. You will start on a simple case to hold your phone or iPod (other electronic music playing devices are available).
Session Two – Simple Flowers
You will learn how to work in a round to create a simple flower and how to sew up your case started in session one.
Session Three – The Granny Square
Learn how to treble and change colour while making a lovely granny square or two.
Session Four – Treble Flowers
Get to grips with chunky wool while creating some lovely blooms made mostly of treble crochets.
Session Five – Creatures
You will get a choice of making a kitten, chicken, gecko (or if Karen is feeling soft pretty much anything you fancy!) This may have to be completed at home depending on how tricky it is!
What Should I Bring With Me?
Just bring yourself as you will receive everything you need for use during the course including equipment and materials.
Karen has a full DBS check and experience of working in both primary and secondary schools – references are available on request.
What Do I Take Home?
You will take home all of the skills you learn, full set of hooks and 2 balls of yarn, your learning portfolio (which includes full instructions for everything covered on the course), and all of the work you produce during the sessions.
