Hello, I’m Karen and I love making things! I make useful things, pretty things, gifts and things to make the world a better place – hey, I like to dream big!
As a designer, I worked in some brilliant places on fantastic projects, before re-training as a teacher in 2009. In 2012 I moved to Chesterfield from London and set up StraightCurves. Originally StraightCurves was just to sell my crafty makes, but soon my passion for teaching took over and I began to run crochet courses.
I am in my element teaching people – young and not so young – to enjoy making things. At StraightCurves, I teach beginners’ courses in knitting, crochet and sewing as well as Jumping Clay and lots of other workshops – the list is always growing!
I am often out and about too, running sessions in schools, libraries, care homes and with groups such as WIs, Brownies and Guides.
I have been made to feel very much a part of the community in Chesterfield, and am passionate about supporting local businesses and minimising the environmental impact of StraightCurves wherever possible.
