Learn how to make your very own Bento Bag that’s reversible – so you can use it inside out! This workshop combines origami and sewing in a way that produces an eye catching, spacious and comfy bag that could be used every day, on the beach or for stashing your yarn in!
Who Is This Workshop For?
For those who can already use a sewing machine aged 8 years and over who would like to make a bag and discover how to do bagging out (don’t worry you don’t need to know what this means to come on the workshop).
First we cut accurate squares from your fabric and then begin construction of the bag. This generally involves basic straight sewing with a couple of trickier bits. It is how you assemble the bag that makes it so effective. This process will be explained step-by-step so that you don’t get it wrong and end up with your outside on your inside or the other way around!
What Should I Bring With Me?
Just bring yourself and six fat quarters or equivalent fabric – preferably in 100% cotton.
Ideally you should have two sets of 3 fat quarters that go together, this could be related to colour as example shown, or pattern. You could have 3 in a plain colour for the lining and 3 in patterns for the outside (it is fully reversible). The choice is all yours, but please try to make it before the workshop if possible as we don’t want to waste too much quality sewing and nattering time at the start of the session!
If you would like to bring matching thread you can, but we have a selection of Moon Thread available in the studio for you to use.
We will supply all the other bits and pieces you need and you will be able to use our equipment during the session too!
What Do I Take Home?
Your finished reversible Bento bag, an understanding of how to bag out an item, a little bit of Orgiami knowledge and full instructions to make another bag at home.
