Mastering Zips

Tutor: Sara Laverick
Length: 2 hours
Max Learners: 5

This workshop will show you how to insert 3 different types of zip, and help you decide which to use when! Whether you want to learn how to put zips into clothes, cushions or purses, this workshop will show you how!

Who Is This Workshop For?

This workshop is suitable for anybody who wants to learn which zip method to use, for those who haven’t put a zip in anything before and for those who dread putting zips in, come and have a go!

You don’t need to be a whizz on a sewing machine – just be able to do the basics (threading up and sewing in a straight-ish line!)

Please note there will only be 5 learners on the workshop to ensure you have enough space to work in.

During this workshop we will make a roll bag and a pencil case which will allow you to have a go at 3 different types of zip insertion – concealed zips, semi concealed zips and invisible zips!

We will begin by choosing your fabric from our stash – you will have a variety to choose from, these will be pre-cut to save time and allow you to concentrate on your zips! The tutor will then demonstrate the three different zip insertions step by step, and you will do the same, step by step, so you can make notes on the order of completion.

What Should I Bring With Me?

Just bring yourself as you will receive all the materials and equipment you need to use.

What Do I Take Home?

You will take home all of the skills you have learned, the roll bag and zipped case you have produced during the workshop and worksheets for future reference.
