Painting with Jumping Clay

Tutor: Karen Rogers
Length: 3 hours
Max Learners: 6

Who Is This Workshop For?

This workshop is suitable for those who like to get artistic, and who are aged 10 and over.

You don’t need to be able to draw (although you can if you wish!), but you do need to be able to trace, have a bit of an eye for colour and a desire to experiment.

Firstly you will work with your chosen drawing and use a light box to trace off your image composition onto paper. This will not be visible once you have finished so don’t worry if drawing is not your thing. If drawing is your thing, please feel free to bring a source image with you and draw it up, or you can use one of our designs, or even create something from scratch!

We will then look at your colour palette and learn how to mix your chosen colours using Jumping Clay. We will discuss how colour and texture can be used to create depth and interest, before experimenting with different methods of applying the Jumping Clay to your artwork.

There will be plenty of time to complete your artwork, and your lovely tutor will be on hand to help if you get at all stuck.

Finally you will be able to choose a colour of frame and a mount to display your artwork in once it has fully dried (this will take between 24 and 48 hours)

What Should I Bring With Me?

Just bring yourself as you will receive all materials and equipment for use in the session.

If you want to bring along an inspiring picture or image to base your artwork on, then please feel free to do so.

What Do I Take Home?

You will take away the skills and knowledge that you have learned during the session, as well as your artwork, a 23cm square frame and a mount.

You will quite possibly develop an obsession with Jumping Clay after this session, and almost certainly a desire to do more!

Anything Else I Should Know?

Jumping Clay is available to purchase from the StraightCurves Studios should you wish – either during the session or at a later date
