Rag Rug Flowers

Tutor: Karen Rogers
Length: 2 hours
Max Learners: 8

Who Is This Workshop For?

This workshop is for complete beginners of any age. You do not need to have tried rag rugging before or even know what it is!

How?

The basic techniques required will be demonstrated by your tutor who will then support you as you develop your skills to produce a flower or flowers (depending on size and design) using the basic technique of prodding.

You will learn to use a traditional proddy to construct your flower(s) and there will be a range of coloured fleecy fabrics for you to choose from to create your flower.

You can then choose the final purpose of your flower(s) – other than looking pretty of course: it can be sewn on to a bag, a hat, turned into a mobile phone case or you can purchase a brooch back to sew onto the back of your flower and add to whatever you choose.

What Should I Bring With Me?

Just yourself, all materials and tools will be supplied for use in the session. You should also bring along whatever you are thinking of attaching your flower or flowers too, maybe a hat, bag, jumper, cushion cover… the choice is endless. It will be helpful but not essential to have whatever it is with you so that you can match colours and get it attached in the session too should time allow.

If you want an excuse to go to the fabric shop, feel free to bring along some of your stash with you but we have plenty!

What Do I Take Home?

You will take home your completed flower(s) on their hessian backs and the skills to enable you to make more flowers at home. If you bring your hat/bag/cushion or whatever it is along with as mentioned above then there should be time to get your flowers attached to it within the session too.

Optional Proddy – you can now purchase a hand turned proddy when you book so that you can carry on rag rugging at home. Full kits coming soon.

My favourite part was making a sunflower that actually looked like a sunflower! 5 out of 5 stars!
