Needle Felted Owl or Hare

Tutor: Carol Wilson
Length: 2.5 hours
Max Learners: 6

Needle-felting (sometimes called dry felting), is a technique of felting wool fibres with the aid of special barbed needles.  The felting needles are plunged into the wool where the barbs catch the fibres, tangle them and gradually felt them together.  It’s a great way to create 3D sculptures.

Who Is This Workshop For?

This workshop is suitable for complete beginners (aged 16+) and those with some experience of needle-felting.  If you would like to learn how to sculpt with wool, this workshop is for you. You can choose whether to make an owl or a hare.

We will begin with the basics of how to needlefelt, before beginning to create our models from several natural shades of British wool fibres including Jacob and Shetland.

We will then sculpt the wool fibres into our animal shapes, before looking at different techniques that can be used to add detail and character to our creatures.

What Should I Bring With Me?

Just bring yourself as all materials and equipment that you need for the workshop will be provided.

What Do I Take Home?

A finished model, your felting needles in a holder and notes so that you can create more owls or hares at home!
