Needle Felted Elf

Tutor: Carol Wilson
Length: 2.5 hours
Max Learners: 6

Needle-felting involves plunging barbed needles into either wool tops or carded wool.  The barbs catch the fibres, tangle them and gradually felt them together.  It’s a great way to add detail to wet-felted work and to create 3D sculptures.

Who Is This Workshop For?

This workshop is ideal for beginners and intermediates aged 12 years and up. You don’t need to have done a felting before as your tutor will demonstrate each technique and provide support as required throughout the session.

We will cover the use of different gauges of felting needles, sculpting techniques to create 3D shapes and adding finishing touches to create character in models.

We will create a cute needle-felted elf from wool fibres using both carded wool and wool tops.   Your gnome or elf can be a standing decoration for a mantel piece or shelf, alternatively add a loop to make a Christmas tree decoration.

What Should I Bring With Me?

Just bring yourself as all materials and equipment will be provided. Plus as always the kettle will be on, as all refreshments are included in the price of all our workshops and courses.

What Do I Take Home?

At the end of the session you will leave with your completed elf or gnome, your new or developed skills and the felting needles you have used on the day.  There will also be course notes to take away.
