Needle Felted Bee Brooch

Tutor: Carol Wilson
Length: 2 hours
Max Learners: 8

Needle Felting is when barbed needles are repeatedly plunged (great stress relief) into either wool tops or carded wool in needle felting. It is the barbs of the needles that catch the fibres and gradually felt them together.  It’s a great way to add detail to previously wet-felted work and to create 3D sculptures of all shapes and sizes.

Who Is This Workshop For?

This workshop is ideal for beginners to intermediates aged 12 and over and will be limited to 8 places, to ensure everyone will receive plenty of tutor time.

We will start by learning how to use felting needles to sculpt simple 3D shapes and we will be using local naturally-dyed wool to create our bees. We will then use the needles again to add parts to our bee, for example the wings. Finally finishing our bee by adding simple yet effective finishing touches with embroidery thread and attaching our brooch pin.

What Should I Bring With Me?

Just bring yourself as all materials and equipment that you need will be provided.

What Do I Take Home?

At the end of the session you will leave with your completed buzzy bee brooch and the felting needles and the foam you have used on the day.  There will also be workshop notes to take away to help your memory when making more at home.
