Arm Knitted Scarf

Tutor: Karen Rogers
Length: 2 hours
Max Learners: 8

Arm knitting pretty much does what it says on the tin – it’s a technique for knitting using your arms instead of a pair of needles! It’s very easy to learn and results are quick – meaning that big projects can be completed fairly swiftly!

Who Is This Workshop For?

This workshop is for anybody aged 8 or over. You don’t need to know anything about knitting or arm knitting – in fact you don’t even have to have ever touched wool before in your life!

We will learn to knit using our arms instead of needles! During the session, we will cover casting on, casting off, and basic knit stitch.

We will then use these skills to knit a scarf, and then learn how to join ends together to create a cowl or loop scarf.

What Should I Bring With Me?

Just bring yourself as you will receive all of the materials you will need for the workshop.

There will be a wide variety of yarn for you to choose from, however you are welcome to bring your own with you if you would like! The cost of the workshop includes two balls of yarn, so if you bring your own then you can take the two balls home to make something else with! Arm Knitting works best when you use chunky, super chunky or fancy scarf yarns.

What Do I Take Home?

You will take home your cowl or loop scarf, along with all of the skills to arm knit more and more and more…

Anything Else I Need to Know?

We recommend that you don’t wear bracelets, watches, or rings with catchy sharp bits as you will need to take them off and we wouldn’t want you to forget them! We also recommend wearing a short sleeved top, or one with sleeves that can be easily rolled up as you will need all of your arms free!

WARNING – this technique gives instant results, so lots of yarn shopping will be required as you will almost certainly become addicted! We recommend visiting the We Love section of our website to find local suppliers to feed your wool addiction!
