Emergency First Aid at Work (qualification)

Tutor: Alan Robinson
Length: 6 hours
Max Learners: 8

Who Is This Workshop For?

This workshop is suitable for anybody who wishes to become a certified First Aider for a workplace. It is also suitable for those who just wish to gain more knowledge and experience of general First Aid Training.

How?

This is a one day course in first aid which satisfies the requirements of the First Aid At Work regulations (updated 2009) for a first aider in the workplace. You will be continuously assessed by Alan throughout the day and there will be a multiple choice written test at the end of the day to assess what you have learnt.

The day will be a mixture of theory, activities and practical application of your new first aid knowledge. You will learn how to put casualties into the recovery position, deal with emergency situations and how to bandage various injuries.

The course will cover:

  • Priorities of first aid
  • Legislation
  • Incident management
  • Casualty management
  • First aid for the unconscious casualty
  • Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation
  • First aid for severe bleeding
  • Recognition and treatment for choking
  • Recognition and treatment for seizures
  • Recognition and treatment for burns
  • Course summary and feedback

What Should I Bring With Me?

As there is a practical element to this course,  please wear sensible clothes as you will be both casualty and first aider throughout the day (yes you will have to get on the floor at some point and lie down too!)

Our venue is fully accessible but if you have any medical condition that may affect your participation in the day or that we should know about, please be sure to add it when booking in the space provided.

What Do I Take Home?

Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate which is valid for three years. This will take a couple of weeks to come through – we’ll let you know when it’s ready to pick up.
